The practical part
Terms of use
Key is a small invitation service, not a dating, booking, or safety service. These terms explain the few rules that keep it gentle.

Using Key
By using Key, you agree to these terms. You must be at least 18 years old. Use Key only for respectful, lawful invitations between people who can freely choose whether to respond.
A Key link is a capability: anyone who has it may be able to use it. Share it carefully. Do not use Key to impersonate someone, harass or pressure anyone, expose private information, evade a block, or send spam.
Experiences and plans
Key suggests places as inspiration. Details such as hours, accessibility, reservations, admission, dietary certification, and availability can change. Check current information with the venue before making plans. Key does not book a date, guarantee a match, or promise that a place will be suitable for every person.
You are responsible for your plans, communication, transportation, costs, and personal safety. Either person may decline or stop at any time.
The $5 custom link
When paid custom links are offered, $5 buys one custom Key URL for one invitation. Normally, the custom URL stays active while the invitation is waiting and through the 14 days (14 × 24 hours) after the recipient accepts and opens the door. It is then released and the same phrase may be used for a different invitation. We may approve an exception with no automatic release date, but that is not permanent ownership or a promise that the service will operate forever. The standard private Key link continues independently. A custom URL is not ownership of a word, trademark, or permanent piece of internet property.
A decline or unanswered invitation does not start the 14-day release clock or silently make the URL available again. Custom URLs may be refused or disabled for impersonation, abuse, privacy concerns, infringement, security, or a violation of these terms. A moderated, refunded, or disputed custom URL is held from reassignment.
Refunds and support
If a custom link was charged twice, could not be delivered, did not work as described, or was purchased by mistake, use the support form within 30 days of purchase. Include the checkout receipt or purchase reference, but do not submit a private Key link. We will review the request and issue a refund when the purchase meets this policy. Other refund requests will be considered fairly, including any rights that apply where you live.
A refund or payment dispute permanently disables the custom URL. It does not erase the invitation or disable its original private Key link.
Expiry and availability
In the current MVP, Key invitations do not have a fixed expiry date. A paid custom URL normally follows the acceptance-based 14-day window described above unless an approved retention exception has no automatic release date; releasing that public address does not erase the invitation, its private Key or status links, or payment records that must be kept. Unpaid custom-URL reservations expire when checkout is not completed. We may preserve, suspend, or remove content when needed to operate the service, protect people, or comply with law, and we cannot promise the service will operate forever.
Report a problem
For support, privacy concerns, impersonation, or a request to review or remove a custom URL, use the support form. Describe what happened, but never include a private Key link or anything after its # symbol. We may ask for enough information to verify and resolve the report.
Service limits
Key is provided as available. To the extent the law permits, we do not make guarantees about uninterrupted access, venue information, outcomes between people, or losses caused by plans made through the service. Nothing here limits rights or responsibilities that cannot legally be limited.
Changes
We may update these terms as Key changes. The date above shows the current version. Material changes apply going forward, not retroactively to create a charge you did not agree to.
